With the cost of disk storage on a continuous downward spiral,
it doesn't make sense anymore to constrain users to a static allocation
of space. It's an old business model and liberated syndications
is offering a more modern approach. We offer different levels
where users get an allotment of space to use every month. At Liberated
Syndication you don't have to delete to save space. 30 days after your
file is uploaded, your file is automatically archived and no longer
consumes any of your storage quota.
Your files are available for as long as you keep your account!
Unmetered bandwidth
One of the biggest issues facing the early pioneers of podcasting
is the bandwidth usage. We have an architecture of distributed
downloads across multiple servers where the most recent, high-demand
media files are served from faster, larger pipes, and older, archived
material is from reliable- yet lower speed- connections.
Really simple syndication
Even if you are a complete beginner to the community of podcasting,
or to the concept of blogging, we have one of the easiest interfaces
available. You can immediately get your podcast online and syndicated
in a few clicks. We are constantly improving our service, adding
options and features (both by our own plan and at our users' request).
We are developing this system into the premiere podcast/blog generation
package.
No lock-in: Control your own destiny
We want our customers to stay with us because they want to- not because they're locked in with
their url. The best way to ensure you keep the control over your podcast / blog URL is to
register
your own domain name. We make it as easy for you as possible. Register your domain name through
any domain name registrar, and when asked, list ns1.libsyn.org as your
nameserver. We'll do the
rest and make yourdomain.com and yourdomain.com/rss just work. We hope that you stay with us
forever, but if you ever need to leave, you get to take your URL with you and keep your
audience.
Easy integration with an existing setup
Already have a website setup for your podcast? With libsyn,
you get one-click access to the <enclosure> tag for each
media file in your account. Meaning you can start hosting your
high-bandwidth media with us and it will be a seamless and transparent
switch for your subscribers.
Although we're not using the same code, we have to give credit
to Ryan at shadydentist.com,
as he did it first. At libsyn we give you the option to have podcasts
automatically created for you upon upload of your media files.
Meta-data is pulled from the file's ID3 tags and populated into
your rss feed. It's a great way to quickly get your podcasts up
and out to the world.
FutureCast
This is a simple but effective feature which allows you to set the post date value of
your podcast to be in the future. This allows easy, convenient delivery of program
material published exactly when you want it available.
RSS SplitFeed
We have developed a very easy solution to allow your audience
to subscribe only to a select subset of your podcasts, should
you choose to use it. Here's how it works:
When you create a post, you choose which category it belongs to.
If your podcast jumps topics from post to post, you can choose
to create an appropriate category for each one.
The feed to subscribe to your entire podcast is http://username.libsyn.com/rss.
If you created a category for talk, a category for music,
and a category called rants, a user who only wanted to
receive only your music posts could subscribe to http://username.libsyn.com/rss/music.
